Michael was the Florida Panthers’ first-round pick (No. 23) in the 2012 NHL Draft, and earned Florida’s nomination for the 2017-18 King Clancy Memorial Award, given to the player \u00ab\u00a0who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

On September 24, 2020, Matheson was traded by the Panthers to the Pittsburgh Penguins.<\/p>\n

On July 16, 2022, Matheson was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. He made his debut in the team’s eighteenth game of the season on November 19, registering a goal and an assist in a 5\u20134 shootout<\/a> win over the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>. Welcome home Michael!<\/p>\n

The induction ceremony for the Hockey West Island Hall of Fame was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 19:00 at the Bob Birnie Arena in Pointe-Claire. Michael was accompanied by his family, friends, former coaches, teammates, and city officials. Congratulations Michael!<\/p>\n
